The current economic is still obscure not until the second half of 2009. Albeit Obama has been selected as US President, he could not do much but to cooperate with China, Japan and Russia to counteract and rescue US. If the financial crisis in US continue to worsen, Obama will need to beg the world to bail US instead. Obviously, US is in a declining state not even Obama could improve the current situation.
The shifting of superpower is no longer a doubt and Americans must prepare to change as what Obama has mentioned in his presidential campaign. Americans must accept that US is no longer a superpower as it is and the power will be distributed among China and Russia. The next bust will be UK. The world is depending on China economic stimulus plan and China should expand their internal spending and economic enlargement rather than investing in US junks.
However, the stability of the world is still largely depend on global inflation and OPEC will determine the growth of global economy or deep recession. Should OPEC cut the oil production, inflation will rise and the worst impact will be transferred to middle east as they mostly consumers than producers except crude oil. As such, crude oil company will gain but the people will suffer. Worst case scenario will be chaos in middle east and rest of the world.
On the other hand, Taiwan will be another victim where they are badly hit by world economy and their internal political stability. DPP will create political unrest and conflicts among Taiwanese and scare investors away. Taiwan is no longer a safe place for investors not because of China but their internal conflicts as witnessed by recent unrest due to China officials visit.
Lastly, investors and FDI should start injecting funds and move their business operations to Asia as to avoid bankruptcy that might have been caused by US recession. Change we need and the super economy is changing from west to east.

Taiwan : A democratic failure
Taiwan would like to be the model of total freedom and democratic country in the world. They have freedom of speech and media broadcast without propoer control in place. Taiwan is using such system to oppose China for reunification and demand for democracy and freedom of speech. Unfortunately, Taiwan is in chaos and in parallysis mode of running the country effectively.
There are plenty of failures emerged in Taiwan albeit there are practicing democracy. Taiwan simply does not understand the difference between democracy and freedom of speech. These are controversial and they oppose to each other if not being managed appropriately. Let's see what are the issues faced by Taiwan and what are the causes for the country's operation and administration disruption?
1) Taiwan regime do not control the media and broadcasting and allowing commentators and MPs to speed freely on the media. This is toxic and may bring disaster to the country. The people of Taiwan are naive and they might listen to unproven facts from the media. Eventually, the jurisdiction is influenced by political pressures rather than working independently. Cases like Chen Sui Bian, China toxic milk and Typhoons are in a mess in addition to unneccessary sppech by media commentators and MPs.
2) Taiwan does not practice the law and regulations well where conducting seminar in public is not in propoer control and measures. Any party leader can provide speech freely regardless of triggering hatred among nations and cultures. Political influence is too strong in Taiwan.
3) The administrations are bombarded by parties memebrs and MPs whether ruling or opposition parties. This will do no good to Taiwan when exercising public policy where hindrance and blockade is a norm. The disruption will scare away the investors regardless of who is rulling Taiwan.
In order to rule the country efficiently, Taiwan should control the degree of freedom of speech in media, broadcasting and public. Independent Security Acts should control the country regardless of parties and should not be influenced by the Government like what DPP has done previously. Lastly, people of Taiwan should be more mature and not driven by Party emotion or support. A democracy country means vote for the right party and not support the party all the way. Supporting party is as good as communism. If the party is good and bring wealth to the country and people, they will continue to rule the country regardless of democracy or communism. What the people want is peace and harmony and future.

Financial and Market Turmoil - US and World
The current financial turmoil has started to meltdown after the falling of Lehman Bros and Bear Stearn follow by the capital assistance to Freddie and Fannie as well as AIG. How many more financial institutions are facing bankruptcy? How long will this crisis end?
US government has injected tax payers money (US$85B) into AIG to increase their solvency or liquidity on the expense of Americans. In addition, US is planning for another US500B to US$700B to rescue troubled investment banks. IS this viable and feasible? What impacts could US face in long-term?
First of all, US government bailout make more sense than private banking bailout. The reason is the undercovered risks and no one knows how big is the blackhole on the troubled bank. If the acquirer does not have strong financial and capital to withstand the hit for 1 to 2 years, it may trigger another huge bankruptcy that will hurt the market more seriously. As such, Bank of America must be prepared to absorb all the risks generated by AIG and we do not want to witness the second Lehman's destiny. Market consolidation is naturally better than government rescue where the risks are not spread to the nations. The troubled banking should shoulder whatever risks and crisis they have caused.
Secondly, how much can US government raise to rescue the credit crisis? We understand that US has already issued US$300B to US$500B since last year. Are they still viable and competent after approving another US$700B package to market? US reserve is far more less than US$800B and this will increase the burden of Americans in the world. Americans are carrying more debts than any other nations.
Thirdly, US will run into recession albeit they could rescue the current financial crisis. Government has spent all the future monies to rescue the US market and public development and infrastructure development will begin to slow down. This will aggravate the commercial market, properties and high tech sectors. US government will cut spending as well as other private sectors and their economy will revolve in shrinking direction. As a result, this will impact the rest of the world particularly in EU and Asia. Despite it, China is experiencing another setback after the dairy scandal and the world economy will move into depression.
Perhaps, US should only bailout those banks and finance institutes that have great impact to the world other than US only. As for domestic and smaller ones, US should encourage and allow merger and acquition or file for bankruptcy since they are incompetent and inviable. Thus far, I believe that the financial crisis is just in the midway and we shall see more in the next 6 months. Then, it will start to hit high tech sectors especially in IT sector. The recovery is anticipated to begin in early 2010 if not, 2nd half of 2010.

Taiwan - Former President Corruption and Money Laundering
The former Taiwan President Mr. Chen Sui Bian is currently under corruption and money laundering investigation. It has been 3 months wihtout much progress until the information from Egmont and Swiss leaked out by the Taiwanese MP. This is a disgrace to Taiwan and worst still, under an incompetent President, Mr Ma that only protect his own interest and do not wish to interfere the case. The question about Taiwan is not really on Mr Chen Sui Bian but the competency of President Ma to bring justice to the Taiwanese and the ability to lead the country. He is not a good and agressive leader afterall and manipulated by other parties such as DPP and former President Chen.
Secondly, President Ma is indecisive to revamp the current jurisdiction and unwilling to change the incompetent cabinets that cause the shares to drop and shaky economy. Courage is something that Mr Ma is lacking. If this persist, Mr Ma might not able to extend his presidential election for another term. If Mr Ma wish to improve Taiwan's predication, I would suggest him to execute the following to win the votees.
1) Since former DPP has messed up the entire country's economic growth and incompetent to revamp the systems, KMT should be aggressive enough to execute the new strategic plan without hesistation and able to resist DPP attack.
2) Mr Ma should confiscate and freeze all the assets and money of Mr Chen Sui Bian and his family until they could prove their innocence otherwise the assets and money will be given to the Taiwanese or donate to charity.
3) Stop listening to Mr Chen's arguement or defense, amend the current law and system to prosecute him. This will act as a warning to all the civil servants and gain the confidence from investor.
4) Dismantle and change all the current prosecutors. Remove the former DPP people and replace with new one. A new force or government must remove the old influence in order to realize the new plan and change. Else, every policy will be stucked and blocked and still under heavy influence from DPP and Mr Chen.
5) Impose a free tax zone to attract investors to move their operations to Taiwan.
6) Lastly, Mr Chen will surrender if his son and daughter-in-law are prosecuted and arrested. Try to work the case on his son and daughter and not wasting time on him and his wife. To defeat the enemy, on must capture their leader.

Earthquake Prediction
I happened to meet a guy that claimed to have the ability to predict earthquake. He could hear the geopathic sounds generated by the earth before the earthquake strikes. Generally, the earth will release such sounds 1 day to 2 weeks before the earthquake hits. Out of ten predictions, he got all right but he could not tell where exactly the location of the earthquake. That's a big surprise to me and I am amazed by his natural ability. He told me that this extra supernatural power is exactly what animals are experiencing and everyone should have possessed by nature. Perhaps, he is right and afterall, we are poluted by modernization and relying on technological stuff too much.
According to him, there will be some earthquakes with richter scale of 8.2 and above will hit countries from North East Asia and Islands. Tsunami will also affect countries from the north and south. The period will start from Sept 08 until Jan 09. Scientifically, we need to conduct more experiments and statistics on such predictions to assess the generability and replicability as to substantiate the accuracy of such predictions.
I do not deny that people do have such natural ability since we are part of the living things on earth but we need more tests and proves to justify such claims.

The impact of World Economy
As we have witnessed the unprecedented growth in year 2007, we are also experiencing unprecedented growth of inflation all over the world in addition to unprecedented hike of crude oil. Now, the question is can the global economy sustain the economic volatility? On the other hand, USA is hitting by sub-prime crisis which aggravate the economic wound further. No one can tell you or predict if the global economy could recover from it within the specified timeframe. Of course economy could recover but when? Will it cross section with high inflation that cause by shortage of food and great demand of oil? If yes, we must work together to develop a get-well-plan else we will face economic and social turmoil in no time. Following are some of the causes that put the global economy into risk.
1) Rising oil price (hitting US$130 per barrel or more)
2) US subprime crisis may take at least 5 years to recover
3) Shortage of food
4) Inflation due to high crude oil price
5) World disaster that hit on agriculture countries
6) Most importantly, global warming
How can we reduce the impact and improve the current situation? Subsequent are some recommendations that everyone could help
1) Always adhere to green policy and use energy saving equipment
2) Continue to spend with cautious else the economy will shrink and lead to massive layoff whicn in turn further shrink the economy. This is a cyclical process.
3) Reduce the consumption of meat because the amount of grains used to feed the animals are far more greater than humans consume. If we take less meat, we can use the grains to feed more people and control the rising cost of food.
4) Reduce the dependence on petrochemical products. Reduce the electicity consumption or look for alternative such as solar energy.
5) Stockpile more grains in case of emergency such as natural disaster.
6) Comply with green policy or global warming policy. Reduce the CO2 release and stop using LEAD products.
These are merely some of the recommendations that we could play our part to protect the earth and mankind. If we ignore, we must prepare to face the consequences from the nature.

The Cross-Straits Issue (China-Taiwan)
Political Science is a complex and sophisticated academic studies in higher education. Researcher must understand well about the cultures, traditions, behaviours and the history of each country they would like to study on. Nevertheless, politics is a very powerful tool to manipulate and cause destruction to nations and countries. A good example are the downfall of Soviet Union, Communism and so forth.
Strategically, there are four super power countries with great military strength, namely, US, China, Russia and Euro(Nato). However, that isn't sufficient to enable one to be powerful but require the integration of the country's economic growth or in short, positive and steady GDP growth. As such, we can narrow down to US, China and European Union. Given the experience(history) and background of these economic and military regions, EU and China have better advantage in terms of their historical background. They belong to great strategists whereas US can be categorized under advanced technology war game. In reality, China is the most promising country to lead the next century and pose the greatest threats to US economically as most analysts believed. I will focus on the topic of APAC economic stability especially China and Taiwan.
Why is Taiwan so important to China and US? Strictly speaking, Taiwan is a good strategic location despite the westernized culture for both countries. Since Japan regime will not jeorpadize the country, Japanese will restrict its co-operation with US to certain extent. In addition, South Korea would not want to exasperate its counterpart, North Korea and China and that will restrict US military expansion in North-East Asia. Under such circumstances, Taiwan is the most appropriate strategic partner to work with as to restrain China from growing too fast. The Taiwan Government has strong commitment with US regime and will provide a military base to US to protect the country. A win-win situation occur between both countries at this point in time.
Why would China bother to integrate Taiwan into the mainland? First of all, China would not allow US to build its military base in Taiwan which is few hundred kilometer away from China economy hub. Secondly, China would not allow US to use Taiwan as a media of communication to disrupt its nations via newspaper or media broadcasting. Third, this might portray a wrong signal to other states such as Tibet and SinKiang where they have long for independence. Eventually, all these would complicate the matter further and cause instability to China and the region. The economy of APAC would be dragged and terrorism will rise due to chaotic state. The impact is as high as the tension between Pakistan and India or North Korea and South Korea and Japan.
So, what is the ideal resolution to rest the matter? In my opinion, peaceful negotiation is the only way to sort out everything and Taiwan must return to mainland but of course, with conditions that can be accepted by both regimes. Nonetheless, time is a factor that determine whether war would have occurred in the cross straits. In addition, the increased competition in military build-up would also determine the time of war. China will not attack Taiwan by 2008 if Taiwan remains its status quo. However, year after 2010, even if Taiwan remains its status quo, China may launch an attack to cease the tension for the benefits of long term strategic economic growth.
Why China will not fight with Taiwan if status quo remained at the moment? To my analysis, given the current military strength of China, winning the war is a matter of time but this is considered short-term plan. China needs to consider the aftermath where the paralysis of Taiwan economy will require enormous amount of money to stabilize the situation. Subsequently, feeding the people of Taiwan also require another enormous amount of money. However, these have not included the aftermath within China itself such as Fujian, Shanghai and etc. If the recovery and rebuilding exercise take longer, the entire China may lead to chaotic state. Again, Tibet and SinKiang may riot and declare independence. The ongoing problems will not rest easily until the economy of China return to normal. How certain would China launch an attack after 2010? This is possible if China has successfully reserved enough of capital to sustain the war and the aftermath.
A good strategist will not rush for war if he is uncertain about the winning. Resource is extremely crucial to the success of war. China might not have sufficient resources currently and the impact is high if US is involved. Crude oil reserves is the most crucial point and China needs to plan for the shortage for the next 20 years. As a result, building a long pipeline from China via Myammar to Middle East can be a backup resource for China to sustain the crude oil. During the war, sea transportation will be in critical alert and maybe blocked by US to cut the supply. Alternative solution is vital for China to take into consideration. The construction of the crude oil pipeline may take more than 8 years. Hence, my conjecture that China may attack after 2010 is highly possible.
A peaceful reunification is utmost important to ASIAN countries particularly Singapore. Singapore will be put into awkward position if the war occur where they have established good links and relationship with China, US and Taiwan. And the impact is high due to extensive investment in these countries. Let's pray for a peaceful reunification.

China Sichuan Earthquake : Catastrophe
As a overseas chinese, I am greatly affected by the disaster struck on China on May 12. I am very sad to see the people suffered and injured in this event. My despair can never be healed and what I can do now is to pray to Heaven to minimize the casualty and hope the dam will not aggravate the calamity further. If my sacrifice could save the people from the disaster, I would not hesitate to do so.
I do not understand why China always encounter disaster since thousand of years ago. The current earthquake has destroyed the cultural relics left by our ancestors and the dreams of Han to be the most prominent clan. I am shattered by this event and do not know why this has happened to us. However, to think positively, I would like to thank GOD for being merciful and benevolence. I came to realize that nothing in this world is permanent and forever albeit our ancestors had tried their best to leave every trait and trace to us.
This disaster has alarmed the Chinese to learn how to cope with disaster in near future and how we should work together to face every challenge and obstacles. The event has created a space for the Chinese to unite, to love and to care . Though the price is too high but we will never forget this event and the leadership of the Chinese leaders to help and calm the people in Sichuan.
We should not surrender our fate to Heaven but to face every challenge given by GOD and we should learn from the lesson where the force of every nature can never be underestimated. Love our land and surrounding and do not hurt the nature else the price will be even higher in future.
The aftermath of this disaster is projected to be more than USD$30 billions. I urge everyone to do their very best to help building the home for the homeless and donate as much as you could. Distribution of weatlh is the responsibility of the rich through charity and is the core of every religious teaching.
Helping people is to help yourself. We never know when disaster will hit on us!!
